     'Women Committed to the Service of Humanity'

    The Y.W.C.A (Malta) is a non profit NGO. The newly established group of women work to improve the lives of those women and children who are less privileged than themselves. The purpose of Y.W.C.A is to develop the leadership and collective power of women and girls to achieve human rights, health, security, freedom, justice and peace for all people

    We strongly believe that education is the key that open doors for job opportunities, our aim is to build strong communities by offering educational  free of charge courses for women which are given by professional YWCA’s members and volunteer supporters. Members commitment is an important factor for the associations’ projects to be realized.

     

    YWCA (Malta) main pillars are

    • The Self Development Programme (SDP) offers educational basic courses in various subjects.
    • Talks that concerns women and family issues.
    • Seminars are held about health, sex education, domestic violence, social issues and environment.
    • Social activities:  Tea Card Party, Concerts, Get together,Cultural activities are held regularly 
    • New young members besides offering their service to help vulnerable persons will also have the opportunity to apply and participate in The European and the World YWCA's Study Session that are organized regularly in different countries. This is an excellent training opportunity for our young members to acquire knowledge and skills on human rights issues, the chance to form new networks, and develop leadership skills.

      Participation for this Study Session is free of charge

     

    Becoming a member of this volunteer movement you will have the opportunity to build new relationship and widen your social circle, build your self- esteem and confidence, acquire and develop different skills.

    YWCA is always in need of volunteers to help out in the various spheres and activities of the association such as: planning events, fund-raising, office work, media and support social services projects.

      YWCA(Malta) in collaboration with the Directorate for Lifelong Learning is offering the following evening courses for 2012-13.
       
      Basic Courses: Maltese and English Language
      Basic Course: Mathematics
      Customer Care
      Beauty Care
      Italian Language (Basic)
      Lace making
      Energy Saving Initiatives at home
       
      Courses are offered free of charge to,Senior citizens and persons who receive the Social Services Assistance. Women and young women over 16 years are eligible to apply.

      YWCA(Malta) O Level Revision Maths course 2012-13

      YWCA is proud to announce that an O Level course will be starting in September for young girls and women. This course is designed for young girls who are sitting for O Level exams and for those that have been out of school life and has decided to sit for the Maths O Level exams 2013.


      Course will commence in September,at YWCA Centre 178, Valley Road  Msida, on Mondays & Thursdays from 16.30pm to 18.30pm.Lessons will be in English.

      Notification YWCA(Malta) Peach & Sorrel Scholarships

      Following the interviews held at Peach & Sorrel Beauty Academy recently, the Scholarship Board decided to extend the closing date and issue another call for applications for the three Scholarships within the Beauty Sector.One Scholarship is being offered in each of these categories: Nail Technology -Make Up Artist and Beauty Specialist.

       

      Application must be received not later than Monday 24th September 2012. Interviews will only be held on Tuesday 25th September 2012 at the Peach & Sorrel Beauty Academy, 270, Fleur-de-Lys Road, B'Kara.
